Revolution Wrestling
Wrestling is an ancient practice, going back some 15,000 years. Cave paintings in show images of some of the same holds that are used in matches to this day. In the Greco-Roman era, wrestling was a popular sport, and was included in the Olympic Games from the first.
While traditional Greco-Roman wrestling is an extremely useful art form, Revolution Martial Arts focuses on teaching wrestling for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). All techniques taught by our instructors will be proven and applicable to MMA.
Anyone who trains or is considering training for MMA MUST develop an understanding of the fundamental techniques of wrestling in order to succeed. What is more, those who have trained in different styles of wrestling can use that background as a basis for further training in MMA. Wrestling is a versatile skill, and when Mixed Martial Arts expertise is added, the combination can be powerful.
Whether you are in the clinch, going for a takedown, or using a ground-and-pound technique, a wrestling background can come in very handy. In these situations, wrestling skills are adapted to the demands of MMA combat.
Besides wrestlers who progress into MMA, there are also many fighters from other disciplines who learn about wrestling during their training for Mixed Martial Arts. It is never too late to learn something about fighting from wrestling principles. As long as you are still competing in the sport, you will have plenty of chances to use what you have discovered.
Classes begin with a dynamic warmup followed by light wrestling drills. Technical instruction will follow where you will have a chance to try out the techniques with a partner. Classes often end with some fast-paced, fun, live wrestling. Shorts and t-shirt are the only required attire. A mouthguard is recommended.
